SULLIVAN, Wis. -- “The Wisconsin Wildman” Dan Schlieper captured his second ‘Spring 50’ title last Saturday night when he bested a stellar field for the $5,000 payday at the Florence Speedway in Union, KY. Dan, who also reached victory lane at the same event back in 2000, won his heat race and drew a number one in the redraw to earn the pole position for the 50-lap feature event. The driver of the Miller Bros. Coal / Hawkeye Trucking #9 Rayburn / Pro Power Monte Carlo led every lap of the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Series sanctioned event en route to his first victory of the 2005 racing season.

“It feels good to get back into victory lane, that is for sure,” stated Dan following the race. “We struggled a little early on this year, but I think things are starting to turn around for us. The track was really good here tonight, as the people at Florence Speedway did a great job on it. I was able to jump out to an early lead and hold on for the win. My crew was signaling from the infield that (Scott) James was closing in on me at the end of the race, but I just tried to be smooth and we got the win.”

The Dan Schlieper Racing team is unsure of where they will be competing this weekend. They are bouncing back and forth the idea of attending the ‘James King Memorial’ weekend at the Columbus (MS) Speedway or the ‘Spring Thaw’ weekend at the Volunteer (TN) Speedway. A decision will be made by Wednesday and will be posted on www.danschlieper.com.

Dan would like to thank all of his sponsors including: Miller Bros. Coal, Hawkeye Trucking, Pro Power Racing Engines, CJ Rayburn Race Cars, Uncle Buck, Hoosier Tires, Five Star Bodies, Stealth Carburetors, VP Racing Fuels, Mr. Moto Products, Out-Pace Racing Products, Sweet Mfg., Crower, Weld Wheels, Brodix, Manley, JE Pistons, Scott Performance Wires, Delph Communications, Stiles Headers, Allstar Performance, Wulff Pumps, T&D Machine, and Champ Pans.
