Wednesday, August 1, 2012 Rich Bickle to Join The ASAMT this Sunday at Madison Int'l Speedway
by Kari Shear-CarlsonIf you are a Wisconsin race fan, chances are you have heard the name Rich Bickle. This Sunday you will hear that name yet again. Edgerton, WI's Bickle will be racing with the ASA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment and Lester Buildings on Sunday, August 5th at Madison International Speedway. This will be his first event with the ASAMT in 2012. While he has not been racing with the ASAMT this season, he has been busy nonetheless. On most Friday nights you can find him at Madison International Speedway where he regularly runs in the top five. He is hoping to have that same luck this Sunday afternoon. "I'm a little short on power on the short runs, but good on the long runs after drivers start to wear out their stuff. With it being 100 laps, I'll be there at the end," said Bickle. Bickle is also an icon in the annual Slinger Nationals in Slinger, WI. Early in July Bickle finished in sixth after being sent to the rear of the field after an early caution. He charged his way back to challenge the leaders, but settled for the sixth spot. Bickle has also been racing locally at Dells Raceway Park and recently raced in the All-Star 100 at Rockford Speedway. ASAMT VP Steve Einhaus is happy to see Bickle competing regularly. "It's really nice to see Rich racing more often again with success. He and I have talked quite often over the last few years about finding a way to get him to race with us full time. Rich is an asset, he's tough as nails and he's old school, and we really need some of that back in racing. It's my goal to see him with us in 2013 and it will be a pleasure to see him this Sunday." Aside from all of his other racing, Bickle is really looking forward to racing with the ASAMT this Sunday afternoon. "I am excited for the race. We all want to put on a good show and have a great crowd," Bickle said. Qualifying begins at 1:00PM followed by an autograph session at 1:45PM. Racing begins at 2:30PM.
