MASON, Mich. -- Florida driver Steve Dorer took the early lead and held off a late charge by Phil Bozell to win the 40 lap feature race for the Tripp’s Auto Shop Collision Centers super late models Friday night at Spartan Speedway in Mason, Michigan. Dorer was the super late model champion at Spartan in 1997 before moving to the sunshine state.

Larry Wallace won the 35 lap Sawyer’s Chevrolet Superstore feature to win his eighth main event in nine attempts. The bonus to anyone who can beat Wallace will be $300 next Friday night.

Josh Trammel (Lipari Foods Spartan Stock A division), Marc Long (Lipari Foods Spartan Stock B division), Patrick Dennison (Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stock A Division), and DJ Marciniak (Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stocks B Division) also captured feature wins. It was Marciniak’s first ever feature victory.

Next weekend is a racing doubleheader at Spartan. Friday will see the Modifieds going 50 laps along with a full program of Spartan and Pony Stocks along with the Midwest Classic Racers dwarf cars.

Sunday will be the annual “Charging Charlie Ryan Memorial 75 Presented by B and L Truck Caps” for the Tripp’s Auto Shop Collision Centers Super Late Models. Lipari Foods Spartan Stocks and Boss Snow Equipment Pony Stocks will be in action for Round 3 of the “Sunday Slugfest Series“ plus Pony Stock Figure 8‘s and the first race of the 2012 “Mid Michigan School Bus Challenge. Racing begins at 7:30 pm on Friday and 6 pm on Sunday and a
$20 discounted two day pass is available for next weekend’s events.
