FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. -- Jeremy Jacobs of Luxemburg weaved his way through lapped cars and fought off De Pere’s Jay Matthias to win his first modified feature of the year at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek on Miller Lite night at the races.

Clean sweeps were earned by Oconto’s Steven Stewart in the stock car class, along with Franklin’s Dan Sorce in the Brian Peterson Builders Grand National class.

A total of 121 cars checked in to do battle. The field included 21 modifieds, 14 Brian Peterson Grand Nationals, 23 stock cars, 19 Tisler Salvage street stocks, 30 IMCA northern sportmods and 14 sport fours. The six division show clicked off promptly at 6 p.m. and the final checkered flag flew at 9:15 p.m. Three of the six features went green to checkered without a caution.

Jacobs sprinted into the lead from the pole position at the drop of the green at the modified feature. Matthias stayed within striking distance throughout the contest. Jacobs skillfully threaded his way through lapped traffic to seal the win. Matthias hung on for second, followed by De Pere’s Dean Maurer, Sobieski’s Sean Jerovetz and Denmark’s Tim Czarneski.

Stewart fended off a fast closing trio of Troy Jerovetz, John Heinz and Dustin Loberger to seal the stock car win. The quartet finished first through fourth, respectively with Manitowoc’s Logan Rhode rounding out the top five finishers.

“Reckless Rob” Charapada, the racing mortician, battled his way through the field and earned his first IMCA northern sportmods feature win of the year here. New Franken’s Brad Lautenbach chased him right down to the wire, taking second place money. Suamico’s Josh Long, Kewaunee’s Brian Bruechert and Troy Jerovetz rounded out the top five.

Hometown driver Kraig Koehler beat out Two Rivers Dave Gauger Sr. to the line to capture the Tisler Salvage street stock main.

Oconto Falls Brian Johnson crossed the line first in the sport four feature, but his car did not pass post race tech. The win was awarded to Matt Prouty of De Pere.

Weekly Saturday night racing resumes next Saturday, July 14. It will be Holiday House/First Bank National sponsoring the nights activities. For more information please check 141speedway.com.
