EAST MOLINE, Ill. -- Tuesday night at the Quad City Speedway was the first of two nights of racing action for the 2012 Rock Island County Fair. Tuesday night’s program featured the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4-Cylinders, Mod Lites, and Orion Tire Repair IMCA Modifieds.

In the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4-Cylinder, $200 to win feature event, Mitch Bielenberg led every lap holding off a late race challenge by Zach Dahl. Bielenberg was a big hit with the fans in victory lane sporting a pair of cowboy boots instead of racing shoes. Z. Dahl took second followed by Jacob Ellithorpe, Mike Wisdom, and Eric Stogdell. Heat race winners were Z. Dahl and Aaron Hitt.

After a lap one caution the Mod Lites went caution free with Bryan Brinker leading every lap en route to his first win of the 2012 racing season and a $200 paycheck. David Norton finished second with Anthony Guss, Shon Sanders, and Dan Guss rounding out the top 5. Heat race winners were Sanders and Norton.

The main event of the evening was a 25 lap, $1,000 to win, IMCA Modified feature. Moline’s Thad Wilson immediately grab the lead from his outside front row starting position and led every lap, capturing the big payday. John Ahlers and Brian Bushong would battle for several laps, side by side, for second place with Ahlers coming out on top. Following Bushong in third was Kevin Blum and Milo Veloz Jr. Heat race winners were Doug Crampton and Wilson.
Rock Island County Fair stock car racing continues Wednesday night with Hershel Roberts Memorial featuring the IMCA Late Model Deery Brothers Summer Series 58 lap main event. The Extreme Auto Glass Street Stocks will be the support class paying $1,000 to the winner. Pits open at 4:30pm, grandstands open at 5:00pm, and racing at 7:00pm.
