TAZEWELL, Tenn. -- Tazewell Speedway is set to kick off the 2005 racing season Saturday, April 9th as the newly formed Tennessee Thunder Dirt Car Series Presented By Pro Maintenance Powder Coating rolls into “The Taz” for their third venue of the 2005 Inaugural Tour for the Third Annual “Bill Holoway Memorial 50” paying $3,000 to the winner.

Bill Holoway, a famed track announcer in the East Tennessee area, announced at Volunteer Speedway before making his way over the mountain to Tazewell Speedway where he announced for several years before passing away in November 2002. Holoway is responsible for Tazewell Speedway being known as the “Bad Fast Taz.” Bill always knew how to keep the fans entertained on race night; there was never a “dull moment” with him behind the microphone. Bill is truly missed by Tazewell Speedway fans, officials and drivers.

Many of Tennessee’s top dirt late model drivers are expected to be on tap for the 3rd Annual “Bill Holoway Memorial 50” chasing the checkers for that $3,000 payday.

Several contingency awards will be presented by the Tennessee Thunder Dirt Car Series such as the White’s Total Performance “Total Performer Award;” B&B Racing Engines “Fast Time Award;” Racing with Rex Racing Apparel “Quick 6 for 6 Award;” PPM Racing Products “Hard Charger Award;” TC Fabrications “Hard Lick Award” and many more.

The TTDCS Super Late Model “Bill Holoway Memorial 50” race format will consist of two (2) laps of qualifying for each car, followed by 10 lap heats Heat line-ups will be determined straight up from qualifying. The winners of the heats will transfer to The Racing with Rex “Quick 6 for 6 Dash.” The line up from the dash will be determined by a drawing among the heat winners

The Super Late Model entry fee for the TTDCS “Bill Holoway Memorial 50” will be $30.00 for TTDCS members and $40.00 for all non-members of the Tennessee Thunder Dirt Car Series.

The pit gate will open at 3:00 P.M. with the Grandstand Gates opening at 5:00 P.M.

General Adult Admission will be $15.00 with 9 and under being admitted free with a paying adult.

Pit passes will be $25.00.

Hot Laps are “tentatively” scheduled to start at 7:00 P.M. with qualifying to immediately follow.
