INDIANAPOLIS -- Just 3 weekends remain in the hunt for a coveted spot in the Chase for the Cup playoffs. Getting in is the first step in racings ultimate goal, a championship. The air is a buzz with this excitement of opportunity awaiting the drivers at the Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems Indianapolis Speedrome. Fans will reap the rewards of these racers giving their all on each and every lap. The action will be intense. Two divisions, the Joe's Value Construction Late Models and Speedrome Stocks, have the dangerous Figure 8 crossover as their biggest hurdle this Saturday on Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems 'Night at the Races'. That evening's competition roster also includes the Roadrunners, Hornets, Junior Hornets, and Pepsi Bike Races for Kids Ages 6 & 7. Racing starts at 7pm.

14 drivers are presently in a spot to fight for the 10 precious positions. And more can join those ranks after this Saturday. 2009 World Figure 8 Champion Ben Tunny is atop the standings in the $10,000-to-win Joe's Value Construction Late Model Chase for the Cup. Fellow World Champions Doug Greig and RJ Norton Jr are his closest current pursuers with only 20 markers between all of them. This Saturday June 23rd is a 50-lap Figure 8 business trip for this trio and the skilled steering wheel sharks that chase them. Reigning division king Greig may be the hungriest without a Late Model feature victory yet in 2012. Eight drivers have tasted glory so far on the crossover course in the ten main events. Only Casey White and Bruce Tunny have hoisted more than one checkered flag.

The $5,000-to-win Stock Chase for the Cup has so far been a defining performance by 2006 titlist Larry Hahn. His almost historic point advantage has been very impressive, but this has put a big target squarely on his back. A mix of former champions and title thirsty rising stars are preparing to slay the "sharp dressed" Goliath. A quiet EJ 'Speed Racer' Neat and 3-time division king Speedy Teepe are seated on the podium as of now. This weekend's challenge is a full evening on the Figure 8 which could separate the contenders from the pretenders. The last time the class competed on this course, it ended with two of the most experienced racers in the field connecting in a thundering crossover crash at the checkered flag.
