CLINTON, Okla. -- Over 90 drivers from 14 states are entered for the 2005 Oklahoma Modified Open, rescheduled to the Fourth of July weekend at Clinton Speedway in Clinton, Oklahoma. The race, billed as "The Racer's Race" because of its huge payout, was scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend but inclimate weather forced postponement for Sunday.

Afternoon feature finale which will pay $5,000 to win, $1,500 to start for the June 31 - July 3 event. The guaranteed purse will see the D feature pay $200 just to start.

Among the states represented are the following: Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee. Pre-entries are still being accepted and will gladly be taken the day of the event.

The Oklahoma Modified Open kicks off on Thursday night, June 30, with an open practice session beginning at 8:00 PM. The track will host a cookout after the practice session featuring free food, beer and soft drinks for anyone that purchased a pit pass. Tow rigs may be parked and left in a pit space for the duration of the event.

Qualifying nights will be held on Friday and Saturday night with a passing point system for heat races used to determine feature lineups. The top four from both nights features are locked into Sunday afternoons feature finale. Points will be accumulated from both days qualifying to determine Sundays feature lineups. Pit gates open both days at 4:00 PM with racing set to begin at 7:00 PM.

On Sunday afternoon, feature races will be held with the top sixteen in the B feature transferring on to the $1500 to start feature finale. Making the B feature is guaranteed $1000 while making the C feature is worth $500. Pit gates will open at 11:00 AM with racing at 2:00 PM.

Clinton Speedway is a high banked 3/8 mile clay oval located at exit 66 off of I-40, then two miles south with sign to the track on the left. For pre-entry forms or more race format information, access the tracks website www.clintonmotorsportspark.com.
