CHEMUNG, N.Y. -- The management of the Chemung Speedrome was forced to cancel their August 10th program due to rain. With consistent storms in the area and potentially being strong to severe storms, the decision to postpone was made.

Racing action returns to the Chemung Speedrome on Sunday August 19th for the highly anticipated return of the Race of Champions Modified Tour 125. The INEX Legends will be racing for a National Qualifier spot for their National Championships in October at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia. The Super Stocks, 4 Cylinders and the INEX Bandoleros will all be on the racing card. Pit gates will open at 10:00am on Sunday morning with the grandstand gates opening at 12:00pm and racing will begin promptly at 2:30pm. Grandstand admission will be $20 for adults, seniors 65 and over will be charged $18 and students 6-12 years of age will be charged $6. Kids 5 and under are free with adult admission.

With his three straight wins on the Race of Champions Modified Tour, Northampton, Pennsylvania driver Matt Hirschman is the new points leader going into the Sunday afternoon showdown in the Twin Tiers. Hirschman grabbed wins at Holland, last week at Shangri-La II and he won the Race of Champions 200 at the Oswego Speedway. Hirschman leads former points leader Kyle Ebersole from Hummelstown, PA by just four points (399-395). Defending Tour Champion Chuck Hossfeld from Ransomville, NY currently sits third in the points chase with Binghamton’s Daren Scherer in fourth and third generation driver Jimmy Zacharias sitting in fifth.
