Friday, April 3, 2009 PRI All-Stars Karting Classic to Air April 6 Fox Sports Regional Networks to Broadcast

The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series, with support from National Guard and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO), are pleased to announce the airing date for the 2008 Performance Racing Industry All-Stars Karting Classic. Action from both the Karter's and Master's divisions can be seen on the Fox Sports Net Regional Networks on Monday April 6, 2009. All Fox Sports Regional networks are scheduled to carry the broadcast at 4:00 PM in each of the regional markets. Please check your local listings for times. The one hour broadcast was made possible with support from television title sponsor National Guard as well as television presenting sponsor BATO. Rob Howden of eKartingNews.com serves as the color commentator fo r the event. With the support of Snap-on Tools, the Bridgestone brand, and the National Guard; the Snap-on Stars of Karting Series has brought the sport of karting to television six of the past seven years with absolutely no cost to the racers.
"I believe that all types of motorsports strongly impact the National Guard's Recruiting and Retention efforts. Racing is an American sport," stated Motorsports Program Manager for the Army National Guard Bureau, Sergeant First Class John Metzler. "It reaches our recruiting demographic and we look forward to sharing our patriotism with all the fans."
SFC Metzler continued on to say, "The PRI All-Stars Karting Classic is a great opportunity to allow the up and coming racers in the United States to be part of the big show and race against champions in all aspects of motorsports. We were proud to have Indy 500 Winner Dan Weldon in this event representing the National Guard. Joey Hand also ran the colors of th e Army National Guard in tribute of the men and women of the Army National Guard."
"All of us here at Bridgestone Americas are proud to showcase the Bridgestone brand's involvement and success in karting on national television, as the Snap-On Stars of Karting series races exclusively on Bridgestone brand kart tires," said Kevin Hunley, from BATO's Motorcycle / Kart Division. "Through this broadcast of the All-Stars Karting Classic, BATO will receive two 30-second spots, billboard exposure, and an in-show feature highlighting four IndyCar Series drivers who participated in the event. Those same drivers race on BATO products throughout the IndyCar Series season, so they can attest to our company's commitment to motorsports excellence on all levels."
With some of the nation's best and most talented karters in attendance including two time national champion Gary Carlton, former series champs Bobby Wilson, Jarvis Gennari and Joel Miller, European junior cha mpion Cyndie Allemann and race winners Spencer Pigot, Kyle Wiegand and David Jurca, the Karter Division was stacked with drivers looking to claim a top-six result to advance to the back of the Masters Division Final.
The Masters Division included AJ Allmendinger, Marco Andretti, Townsend Bell, Antron Brown, Ron Capps, Ed Carpenter, Dave Connolly, Joey Hand, Bryan Herta, Jan Heylen, Jay Howard, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Jamie McMurray, Vitor Meira, Max Papis, Nelson Philippe, Will Power, Buddy Rice, Matt Smith, Scott Speed, Alex Tagliani , Dan Wheldon, and Michael Valiante racing for bragging rights and the 2008 All-Stars Karting Classic Trophy.
The third annual PRI All-Stars Karting Classic showcased teams from Team Arrow USA, Position One - Avanti, MRP - Birel, Turn 1 Pro Sports - Birel, SSC East - CRG, Champion Racing - Intrepid, Italian Motors, RDD Motorsports - Kart Mini, Palm Beach International - Maranello, Mike Manning Karting, Russell Racing Spec ialties, Tony Kart USA, and Top Kart USA; who all utilized both the race and the PRI Show to expose the sport of karting and their brands to the largest audience in North American karting.
