C2P Suspension Technology is Back for the Fifth Anniversary 2007 Season in the ASALMS Challenge Division

LEXINGTON, Mich. -- As sponsorships continue to jump on board for the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts, the drivers and teams of the ASALMS are the definite benefactors. The appeal of the crown jewel of the ASALMS, the Challenge Division is most certainly beneficial to drivers, sponsors, and tracks all over the country and all realize that fact and want to be a part of it, especially this season as the ASALMS prepares for the Fifth Anniversary campaign.

NASCAR Nextel Cup/Busch Series driver, Derrick Cope’s company, C2P Suspension Technology, based in Mooresville, North Carolina, has renewed their commitment to the crown jewel of the ASALMS, the Challenge Division for the upcoming Fifth Anniversary 2007 Season as part of the Participating Manufacturers Program (PMP) in the series “Where Champions Race”.

The Founder and President of C2P Shocks is NASCAR Nextel Cup/Busch Series veteran; Derrick Cope. In 1990, Cope scored the biggest win of his career at the Daytona (FL) International Speedway in the Daytona 500. The late Dale Earnhardt dominated the race by leading 155 of the 200 laps. On his way to take the checkered flag, Earnhardt experienced a tire problem giving the lead and the win to Cope.

The Spanaway, Washington veteran backed up his Daytona 500 win later that season with another victory at the Dover (DE) International Speedway. Cope’s Winston Cup career began in 1982 and with his Daytona 500 victory, Cope became the fourth driver in series history to score his first Cup victory in the Daytona 500 to join legends such as Tiny Lund, Mario Andretti, and Pete Hamilton (1970). Cope has one NASCAR Busch Series win to his credit in 1994 at the New Hampshire (NH) International Speedway.

Cope’s plans for the 2007 season include appearances in both NASCAR Nextel Cup and the NASCAR Busch Series. Cope also has two nieces who race as well; Amber and Angela Cope of Twin Motorsports Racing; Twin Motorsports Racing
