V8 Nights to Power Jonathon Webb in Darwin

HIDDEN VALLEY, Darwin, NT -- Two of V8 Supercars emerging ‘teams’ have joined forces for the Skycity Triple Crown at Hidden Valley this weekend, with Tekno Autosports' Jonathon Webb signing on one of the newest ‘teams’ in the V8 Supercar paddock - V8 Nights - as events title sponsor for the #19 Triple 8-built Holden Commodore.

Webb and team-mate Michael Patrizi have shown from the start of the season that they are true top ten contenders, Phillip Island adding further weight to that argument with both drivers carding top ten finishes in the tricky conditions.

For Darwin though, a circuit where Webb always puts in a strong showing, the car will be resplendent in the colours of V8 Nights, a new initiative aimed squarely at the fans of Australia’s favourite form of motorsport.

“We are thrilled to partner with V8 Nights and Dynamite Solutions for this weekends round of racing in Darwin,” Tekno Autosports' Commercial Manager Paul Robinson said. “David and his team have done a great job with the V8 Nights events so far this year, and like Tekno, they are building some great momentum as the year progresses.

“We are confident that the branding on Tekno’s Car #19 this weekend will make for some great exposure for V8 Nights with Jonathon looking to back up his pair of P7’s at Phillip Island from the last round.”

“I think it’s a fantastic opportunity to promote what we’re doing direct to our target audience,” Dynamite Solutions’ David Viola added. “Like Tekno, we’re working to establish ourselves in the sport, and whilst they’re working to be contenders in the championship, our focus is to allow the fans to get closer to this incredible sport.

“I’m grateful that the Tekno team have allowed us to join them this weekend, and we look forward to Jonathon continuing his outstanding run this season, the whole Tekno team have really put the Supercar paddock on notice, it’s great to see.”

Whilst the #19 car will certainly be an attention grabber in the pits, Webb’s performance at the most northern circuit on the Australian mainland is sure to keep the attention the team has felt in the opening rounds on the emerging two-car outfit.

Like Symmons Plains in Tasmania, Darwin is renowned for providing some of the closest competition the Supercar field will face all year, with the whole 28 car field covered by under three quarters of a second, making qualifying critical.

“I was with Ford last year and we did okay,” Webb admitted, “but I am really looking forward to a strong result in Darwin. I feel that all the hard work the entire team has put in is starting to pay off with two P7’s in Phillip Island.

“The heat in Darwin is definitely a factor, but it is the same for everyone. You just have to get on with it and control the things you can control. We are really starting to work well together as a team and getting our race strategy right.

“We have set some pretty aggressive targets this year, so I am always looking for top 10 finishes, and this weekend will be no different. Obviously it’s a competitive field so we need our preparation and race strategy to be spot on, but we will be definitely aiming for top ten finishes for both cars.”
