American Speed Association, WSIB Motorsports Insurance Team up to Protect the 'Grass Root' Racers

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The American Speed Association is quickly gaining more members that compete at its 35 member tracks and 11 sanctioned touring series. One of the reasons for this success is the excellent insurance programs which are provided to its members through WSIB Motorsports Insurance. Today, ASA announces yet more reason to belong to their family of racing; More Member Benefits negotiated each year.

“The ASA membership is successful by the many small teams that compete on a weekly basis and with our touring series” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “The problem I have seen is that many insurance carriers don’t think about those small teams and/or tracks when it comes to motorsports insurance. They only look at the big teams and tracks that bring in big premiums. We are going to change that here in the American Speed Association. I have asked Laura Hauenstein, President of WSIB Motorsports Insurance to come up with rates on different plans that our “grass roots” racers, not just the big teams, can afford. Through our strength in numbers, I want our racers to be offered the same kind of plans that have only been offered to big race teams in the past, with the same price advantage points.

“As you know we have for a while equipped ASA with the most broad participant accident policy for member tracks. The President of ASA (Huth), has always looked for things he could do for the industry overall and enhance the ASA Membership,” said Laura Hauenstein, President of WSIB Motorsports. “Toward that end, we have designed a small team program for anyone racing within the ASA ranks. As a small team owner and member (racer) they will enjoy member discounts on many lines of coverage.”

These coverage’s for teams include ….

- Auto Liability(for the transporters, motorhomes and other vehicles)
- General Liability as well as Owners & Sponsors Liability
- Off-Track & Storage (to protect competition vehicle & back up equipment)
- Excess Liability
- Team Participant Accident
- Disability Income (the team can purchase to coverage guaranteed contracts “or” the individual driver can purchase to protect himself, etc.)
- Life
- Property
- Workers Compensation

Hauenstein and her dedicated staff are able to provide high touch personal service and they look out for the best interest of their clients, especially clients like the American Speed Association when they want to do something “out of the box” for their members and tracks. This also includes putting on safety & loss control seminars to advocating for rate change to specific State entities.

WSIB is a Managing General Agent (MGA) which means they have the expertise in the motor sport business so an insurance carrier basically “hires” them to manage the programs and distribute them throughout the United States and foreign countries as well. They have the longest standing “Carrier to MGA” relationship that exists in the U.S. as they are in their 14th year relationship with the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies and it continues to be strong today.
