WEEDSPORT, N.Y. -- Culminating with the headline ‘All-Star 100’ on July 19, the start of DIRTcar All-Star Weekend ’09 on the Cayuga County Fairgrounds is just over a month away. The historic Weedsport, New York speedway comes to life for three straight days of heart-pounding, high-powered, pedal-mashing entertainment, with the 100-lap Big-Block Modified winner on Sunday taking home $20,000 from the record $100,000 purse.

Commemorating the 34th straight season of operation for the DIRTcar Racing organization and founding member facility Cayuga County Fair Speedway, all 34 days leading up to the historic event are filled with important news, notes and nostalgia, each continuing to showcase the biggest motorsports extravaganza of the summer --- including the richest race ever scheduled in the history of the popular Route 31 oval.

Want to win a 100-lapper at Cayuga County? Who do you put your money on when it’s a long distance affair with big money at stake? Take your pick when a truly all-star cast of Big-Block performers rides to center stage for the hottest ticket in town come July. There have been 33 century grinds run off in Weedsport since 1972 with 16 legendary pilots pulling into victory lane. While the ‘Tampa Terror’ Will Cagle leads all competitors with seven extra-distance triumphs, modern-day heroes Danny Johnson (5), Alan Johnson (4), Billy Decker (2) and Tim Fuller (2) have all repeated with active chauffeurs Gary Tomkins, Pat Ward and Jack Johnson owning one win apiece. Second-generation standout Tim McCreadie earned his three checkered flags in successive fashion while inaugural winner Pete Cordes, Dave Lape, George Ely, Mike Grbac, Davey Moore, C.D. Coville and Bob McCreadie all own a single first-place trophy for their memorable 100-lap features highlighted at The Port.
