OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- With back-to-back races in Northeast Iowa in the record book, the Deery Brothers Summer Series travels in a different direction for its 10th event of 2009.

Pit gates for the $2,000 to win, minimum $250 to start event open at 5 p.m. The grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Admission to the grandstand runs $15 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12. Youngsters five and under get in free. Pit passes are $25. More information about the midweek program is available by calling 515 832-6000 or 641 673-7004 on race day.

Veterans Ray Guss Jr. and Jay Johnson were the most recent Deery winners, Tuesday at Fayette County Speedway in West Union and Wednesday at Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, respectively.

Five-time series champion Jeff Aikey continues to lead the point standings despite his lowest finish of the season – seventh – last night at Decorah. Jason Frankel, Guss, Terry Neal and defending champ Boone McLaughlin round out the top five.

Top rookie contender Justin Kay is 11th. One hundred and 10 drivers have competed in one or more series events so far this season, 14 of them at all of the first nine races.

Twenty-one dates are on the Deery schedule and drivers and machines will be tested by a tour tripleheader at the end of the month.

The series is at I-35 Speedway in Mason City on July 28, at Highway 3 Raceway in Allison on July 29 and at Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa on July 30.

Late Models will be joined by Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for the Aug. 5 outing on asphalt at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids.
