 by Richie Denzler
RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond International Raceway has partnered with InStadiumSolutions (“ISS”) to implement a text message-based communication system during race weekends. The service will be introduced this weekend at Richmond International Raceway as America’s Premier Short Track hosts the IndyCar Series for the SunTrust Indy Challenge and the USAC Silver Crown Series for the James River Grounds 100 on Saturday night, June 27, as well as the USAC Sprint Car Series for the Rotondo Weirich Showdown on Friday night, June 26. The text messaging system allows fans sitting in the grandstands to communicate directly with the racetrack’s command post if assistance is needed in dealing with any special needs inside the facility. The service is being provided at all International Speedway Corporation facilities and successfully debuted in May at Darlington Raceway. “In our continuing efforts to provide thrilling and safe guest experiences, we are extremely pleased to debut this innovative technology at Richmond International Raceway this weekend. It further demonstrates our focus on providing a safe, enjoyable and unforgettable race experience for our guests,” said Doug Fritz, Richmond International Raceway president. “ISS’ text messaging system allows fans to communicate instantly with our command center and receive immediate assistance at their location. We are glad to work with ISS on this important customer service initiative for all our race fans.” "InStadiumSolutions is thrilled to partner with Richmond International Raceway and give their fans the ability to report, within seconds, medical emergencies and any other track issues directly to the venue's command center. We know Richmond International Raceway is always looking to improve the guest experience and our Fan Text Messaging System will help do just that,” said ISS’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Meyers. Texting instructions will be placed throughout the grandstands via static signage and will be regularly broadcast through audio and video public announcements. About ISS ISS is a privately held company based in South Florida. Their marketing and technical team has several years of experience in text message marketing and mobile phone content solutions. ISS' Fan Text Messaging Service is currently being used by several teams in the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NCAA. In addition, their system was selected for use at the nation's marquee sporting events including the Super Bowl, BCS National Championship and World Baseball Classic.
