ROSSBURG, Ohio -- With renewed sponsorship from Sunoco Race Fuels and the Bazell Oil Company of Logan, Ohio, the American Late Model Series (ALMS) is ready to embark upon its 11th season. An ambitious 25-race slate awaits the chase towards the $5,000 championship title.

And, as in the previous ten years, the Sunoco ALMS tour for dirt Late Models will be under the guiding eye of the United Midwestern Promoters (UMP).

This year’s slate pretty much mirrors last year diversified schedule, with each of the tracks that held events last season, returning to the fold in 2005. The lone addition will be a first-ever trip across the border, when the ALMS faithful venture to Ontario, Canada and the South Buxton Speedway in August.

Opening the ALMS chase will again be Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Saturday, March 26. Considered to be the ‘home base’ for the series, Eldora will present five contests on its one-half mile clay oval.

Also returning as hosts will be Oakshade Raceway (Wauseon, OH) with four events, while a pair of Michigan ovals, I-96 Speedway (Ionia) and Hartford Speedway Park will each be the scene of three ALMS race meets.

Hosting a pair of points meet each will be Ohio ovals Limaland Motorsports Park, Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway. Single events will be contested at Crystal (MI) Motor Speedway, Gas City (IN) I-69 Speedway, Union County (IN) Speedway and South Buxton.

Kris Patterson has been the dominating force in Sunoco ALMS crown. With six titles to his credit to date, Patterson was the victor in the initial year, 1995, and reigns as the defending tour champion. The only other drivers to have captured champions have been Shane Yoder, twice, as well as single titles for Jerry Bowersock and Greg Johnson.
