Bud Series Round 8 at Peoria Speedway Thursday

PEORIA, Ill. -- Labor Day weekend kicks off with a bang for Central Illinois racing fans as Round 8 of the Budweiser UMP Super Late Model Series will be held Thursday, August 30 at Peoria Speedway. The 30 lap UMP Late Model feature event will pay $2,000 to-win and $200 to-start.

Billy Drake currently holds a 44 point lead over Kevin Weaver after 7 in the chase for the Bud Series title and the $5,000 top prize. Steve Lance, Jr., Bobby Pierce, Todd Bennett, Jason Jaggers, Jason Feger, Wes Steidinger, Bob Gardner and UMP National points leader Brian Shirley complete the top 10 in Bud Series points. To date, 70 drivers from 9 states have competed in Bud Series events.

The Bud Series event kicks off 3 nights of UMP action, with Fairbury American Legion Speedway paying out $15,000 for Late Models and $4,750 for UMP Modifieds Friday and Saturday night for its “Prairie Dirt Classic” events. One Late Model driver can walk away with $17,000 if they were to sweep all 3 nights.

UMP Modifieds, featuring a tight points race between Erik Bruce and Ray Bollinger, will also be in a action along with Limited Late Models and Hornets. Late Models and Modifieds will each get 1 lap of qualifying, and Late Models will run the Dependable Towing Dash to determine the first 6 starting spots for feature. Pit gates open at 4:30 PM., grandstands at 5 and Hot laps at 6. Admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $4 for ages 8-15, and FREE for ages 7 and under.
