VENTURA, Calif. -- A $5,000-to-win USAC Western Midget race, part of a unique “tripleheader,” is scheduled November 21 at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. The event has been moved from its originally-scheduled November 14 date by race organizer Jim Naylor and USAC to accommodate the USAC/CRA “Pacific Coast Nationals” Sprint car event at Tulare, Calif., which was also announced today.

Featuring the USAC Western Midget, California Ford Focus Dirt and Junior Focus series, the “tripleheader” continues a rich tradition of USAC racing at the storied southern California fairgrounds oval. In addition, winners of the Ford Focus and Junior Focus races will be crowned USAC’s National Champions in those respective series.

“We are delighted to be able to host this event,” said Naylor. We want this to become an annual target for California race fans and look forward to showcasing some of America’s finest racing talent on our action-packed dirt oval.”

Ventura Raceway has been USAC’s most active venue since its 1986 debut, a Midget race won by all-time USAC Western Midget victory leader Sleepy Tripp. In the past 24 years the track has hosted 127 TQ Midget races, 120 Midget races, 37 Ford Focus races, 16 Junior Focus races and 14 Sprint car races for a grand total of 314 USAC events!

The November 21 event highlights a busy month of USAC racing in the Golden State and should provide spectacular racing as drivers and teams vie for USAC season-ending championships.
