BRADFORD, Vt. -- Retired ABC/ESPN Broadcaster Jack Arute will make his debut with the USAC DMA Midgets this Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway, substituting for Matt Covey, who was sidelined by non-life threatening back injuries in an ATV accident.

Arute, who is President of Stafford Motor Speedway and keeps his hand in the broadcasting world with a college football program on SiriusXM radio, is a former 750cc Mini Sprint Rookie of the Year at Whip City Speedway and a frequent competitor indoors at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. He’s raced Legends Cars and USAC Kenyon Midgets, but this Saturday night at Bear Ridge will be his first time in the open cockpit of a USAC DMA Midget.

The publisher of Dick Berggren’s Speedway Illustrated, Fredrickson is scheduled to substitute for Covey when the USAC DMA Midgets return to Bear Ridge on June 30. This marks the second start in a USAC DMA Midget at Bear Ridge for Fredrickson, who has competed frequently with the Valente Modified Racing Series.

“The Fairlee Flier” Kevin Chafee will have the opportunity to earn bonus Frequent Flier miles this Saturday night when he competes in three divisions at Bear Ridge Speedway- the USAC DMA Midgets, the Sprint Cars of New England and the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. Chafee already has one win in both the Midgets and the Modifieds and he’ll be looking for a Sprint car victory to complete his hat trick.

Jiffy Mart of Bradford night to benefit New Digs for Dogs starts at the world renowned “6:00-ish” post time on Saturday, June 16. “Special Show” admission is $13 for adults (age 18-61), $10 for teens (12-17) and seniors (62+), and $2 for children.
