INDIANAPOLIS -- The AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint cars are idle this week, preparing for races August 10 and 11 respectively at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif. and Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway.

Series point leader Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. established a new series record Saturday night with his fifth consecutive feature victory at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway on “California Racers Hall of Fame Night.”. He led the final 15 laps after passing Danny Sheridan on lap 16 of the 30-lap race.

Trailing Spencer at the checkered flag were David Cardey, Rip Williams, Rickie Gaunt and Nic Faas. Faas trails Spencer by 88 points in the new series standings going into the August 10-11 events.

Williams and Sheridan each led Saturday’s race before Spencer assumed command.
