Billy Moyer, driver of the No. 21 OneHour Cooling/J&J Steel C.J. Rayburn Race Cars/Jay Dickens Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On whether he felt any more pressure or if it gave him an upperhand leaving Florida with the championship point lead: “ It doesn't put more pressure on us at this time. It’s more of an upperhand with the season starting out good. Everything seems to be going good with our program, the hardwork over the winter has paid off and our complete program has came together well for us.”
Clint Smith, driver of the No. 44 JP Drilling/Oval Craft GRT Race Cars/RaceTec Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On if he feels the team can carry over their early season success to”The Rock/Allegany County Speedway and Virginia Motor Speedway: "Hell no, I'm coming up there to run last! (laughing) We are looking forward to carrying our success so far this year into the WoO schedule. The move to GRT chassis has been a positive move for us. However, we are not going into the season overly-confident. We know that the guys we will be competing with are going to be tougher than the competition we have faced so far this year, and we will feel successful with regular top 5 finishes."
Rick Eckert, driver of the No. 24 Raye Vest Excavating Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus
On grabbing an early 2005 season win at “The Rock/Allegany County Speedway”: “It was a good win for us and gives us a lot of confidence heading into the World Of Outlaws event at Cumberland on April 8. There will be quite a few more cars and the competition will be fiercer for the Outlaw event, but hopefully we can have a car like we did March 19.”
Chub Frank, driver of the No. 1* Lester Buildings/Corry Rubber Rocket Chassis/Draime Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On the 2005 World Of Outlaws Stacker2 Late Model Series campaign: “We made a commitment to run the entire World Of Outlaws tour this year. We’re doing all those events plus some other events. And we’re excited about the 15 televised races that will be offered with the World Of Outlaws series. We have a good team, and everyone is on the same page. We’re fired up, locked and loaded and ready for the season. I can’t wait to get going. We’re going to try our best to take a shot at the World Of Outlaws championship.”
Tim McCreadie, driver of the No. 39 Sweetners Plus Rocket Chassis/C.C. Performance Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On winning his career first World Of Outlaws Stacker 2 Late Model Series feature event, Feb. 19 at Volusia Speedway Park: “We were close a couple of times last year and just didn’t have any luck. We didn’t know if we would get one. We dropped out, we crashed one night leading and then went off the track leading. This year we had a little bit more luck and led every lap and had a really good run.”
On what it meant to beat raceteams and drivers with much more experience than the sophomore driver: “These guys are so tough to beat. Your racing against the best and it’s an accomplishment. You look around and see guys going on the trailer who are champions for a lot of different types of dirt Late Model racing series so it’s definitely an accomplishment.”
On whether he thought that elusive first win would come this quickly: “It’s weird, it’s only a year running the World Of Outlaws series but when we we were as close as we were four or five times last season we were happy to finally get one and hopefully it isn’t the only one we’ll get. Hopefully we’ll get a lot more. The win in Florida was great for the whole team, We put in a lot of hours this winter to improve our program. Hopefully this success will continue throughout the entire WoO season.”
Brian Birkhofer, driver of the No. 15B Daufeldt Transport/J&J Steel MasterSbilt Race Cars/Pro Power Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On the crew changes to his raceteam after the WoO Stacker 2 events at Volusia Speedway Park: “I know there has been a lot of talk out there about what happened with my crew following Florida. Brian (Daugherty) left after Florida, but that was a decision made far before that point. He had decided to take a job elsewhere, but wanted to help us during Florida. It was an amicable split and we still talk several times a week. As for Tee-Ray (Todd Anderson), I am not sure what he is going to do this season. He just bought a house and is busy working on it. He may decide to help us part-time and that would be great because he has been a great asset to our team for many years. I have hired a new full-time guy and his name is Jason Utter. He has a lot of racing knowledge and I am excited to have him with us this year.”
Josh “Kid Rocket” Richards, driver of the No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo
On if he feels any extra pressure after bursting onto the scene in 2004 and having early 2005 season success: “No, not really. It actually takes a little pressure off of me because it makes me focus harder. I am just here to race and that is what I am going to do. The beginning of last year I just wanted to stay out of everyones way, get some experience, and if I ran good it was just a bonus. Towards the end of the year, when I was more comfortable with the car, I started running harder and was focused on running up front. This year I am focused on running up front and winning, that is what I am going to try to do.”
After racing in Maryland and Virginia, the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2 Late Model Series takes two weeks off before the series invades Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,PA on April 29 and Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown,MD on April 30.
