CONCORD, N.C. -- The World of Outlaws Late Model Series 'Wild West Tour' has grown bigger with the addition of a date on Tues., July 10, at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., bringing the national circuit to the half-mile oval for the first time in its modern era.

The 50-lap, $10,000-to-win event at Black Hills fills an open mid-week slot on the annual summer-time western swing for the WoO LMS, which will visit six tracks in four states and one Canadian province over the nine-day period stretching from July 6-14.

A sprawling 63-year-old track located near popular South Dakota tourist attractions such as Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Deadwood and the Badlands National Park, Black Hills Speedway will host a WoO LMS event for the first time since June 5, 1988. Minnesota's Willy Kraft won that race, which came during the inaugural season of the tour's initial two-year run under the auspices of late WoO Sprint Car Series founder Ted Johnson.

The closest the WoO LMS has come to Rapid City since its reincarnation in 2004 under the World Racing Group banner is Gillette (Wyo.) Thunder Speedway, which has presented full-fender World of Outlaws programs in 2008, '09 and '11.

'We're very excited to add Black Hills Speedway to the 2012 World of Outlaws Late Model Series schedule,' said series director Tim Christman. 'We've worked with track owner Ed Kirchoff in the past with our races at Gillette Thunder Speedway and he's proven to be a big supporter of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, and new Black Hills Speedway promoter Bill Keester has been doing a great job building the track's crowd with every event he presents this season.

'I think we're looking at a having huge show for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on July 10 at Black Hills Speedway. Racing there for the first time will put our World of Outlaws drivers in a new market and really make the 'Wild West Tour' bigger and better.'

The WoO LMS 'Wild West Tour' kicks off with back-to-back nights of racing on Fri., July 6, at Amsoil Speedway in Superior, Wis., and Sat., July 7, at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. After visiting Black Hills on July 10, the swing closes with consecutive events on Thurs., July 12, at Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Fri., July 13, at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.; and Sat., July 14, at North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minn.
