Barbara Announces New Sponsors to Go with Strong Opening Weekend

SOUTH PARK, Pa. -- Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports opened their 2007 season this past Friday at Lernerville Speedway and then ventured up Interstate 79 to the Mercer Raceway Park for the United Late Model Series (ULMS) sanctioned “Chiller Thriller” on Saturday March 31st.

Keith’s 2007 season started off bitter sweet as he finished second behind 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series superstar Josh Richards in his first heat race of the season. The bitter part of the evening came as Keith pulled into his pit after his heat race. The Forbes Field Motorsports Team found a problem with the carburetor on his Bill Kell Engines power plant. The problem was one that could not be fixed at the track without a spare carburetor so Keith went searching through the pits to possibly borrow a carburetor from another racer. Luckily Alex Ferree was there to assist Keith and had the part for Keith to borrow. Alex had a crew member go back to his shop and get a spare carburetor for the Forbes Field Motorsports Team. “Alex really helped us a lot at Lernerville, just goes to show you how great this sport is. Alex didn’t have to help us out but he did.” Keith said. Keith and team were able to get the carburetor on the motor in time for the night’s feature event. “I guess I owe Alex a phone call,” laughed Keith.

Keith started the race in the 4th position and battled David Scott for third for pretty much the whole caution filled race. Keith was able to hold off Scott for the third position behind Josh Richards and the night’s saving grace and race winner Alex Ferree.

The next night the team made the two hour trek up to Mercer Raceway Park for the ULMS sanctioned “Chiller Thriller”. Keith would win his heat race in front of Dave Hess Jr. and Mike Knight. Things were going well for Keith in the A-Main event as he was battling for the lead with David Scott and Chris Hackett. Keith had his Triangle Benefits Services/Potoka Trucking/Forbes Field Garage/RanGroup Racing Tours/Rocket Chassis GTO in position for a solid top 3 finish until lap 20 of the 30-lap feature when the oil filter cracked in half causing the car to lose all oil pressure. Keith was pushed to the pit area and credited with a 14th place finish.

“It’s really a shame that happened because we had a great race-car. The track was in great shape and I think we had a chance to win the race but sometimes those things happen.” Keith explained. “We are getting ready to take the motor out of the car now to see if there was any sort of internal damage done, hopefully I shut the motor down before anything got tore up.”

Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports would like to announce two new sponsors for the 2007 season, Colbert’s Collision and Service and Moses Electric. Colbert’s Collision and Service is located on Becks Run Road, just outside the City of Pittsburgh on the south side of the city. Moses Electric is also coming on board for the 2007 season. “I have been friends with these guys for a long time.” Barbara said about his new sponsors. “I went to high school with the Mark Moses from Moses Electric. He stepped up to the plate for 2007 and decided to help us out. We stayed in touch with Colbert’s Collision and Service through the years. We met back when I drove the #84 car owned by Phil Lukon. Just like Mark, they stepped up and we are fortunate to have two business’s like these on board with us for the 2007 season.”

Keith Barbara would also like to announce a partnership with car owner Floyd Lockart out of Marion Center, PA. Floyd Lockart owns the Lias Tire/E&M Motors/Townsend Gas & Oil/Edge Racing Engines/Warrior Chassis #4. John Britsky out of Punxsutawney, PA formerly drove the car. “I’m pretty excited to partner up with Mr. Lockart, he puts a competitive car on the track and I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel.” Keith and Floyd have not come up with a schedule yet but will be announced as soon as one is finalized.

Next week Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports will be driving the family owned Triangle Benefits Services/Potoka Trucking/Forbes Field Garage/RanGroup Racing Tours/Rocket Chassis GTO #17 at Lernerville Speedway on Friday April 6th as well as Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway on Saturday April 7th.
