SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- On Tuesday, January 17, the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta race car that has raised over $300,000 for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will again be sold at a Barrett-Jackson collector car auction, this time at the company’s annual Las Vegas event.
The world’s first ever bio-diesel touring car, the Jetta was originally built by Chili Pepper Racing in 2006. Thanks to the generosity of various Barrett-Jackson automotive enthusiasts, who have donated the car back to the Foundation after each purchase, the upcoming auction will mark the Jetta’s fifth Barrett-Jackson sale. In total, Barrett-Jackson Auction Company has raised nearly $600,000 for the Austin Hatcher Foundation through the sale of various collector cars at auctions across the country.
Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2012 will air live on the SPEED Channel from January 17-22. The 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, lot #3002, will cross the auction block during prime time on Tuesday, January 17. All proceeds will again benefit children and families affected by pediatric cancer through the Austin Hatcher Foundation.
