 by Stan Kalwasinski
PEOTONE, Ill. -- Seemingly bringing down the curtain on winter and signaling that the start of auto racing in this area is just around the corner, the annual Chicagoland Auto Racing Memorabilia and Collectibles Show will take place at Peotone’s Will County Fairgrounds on Sunday, March 25.
Vendors from throughout the Midwest will display their wares at the 21st annual show, offering auto racing fans and collectors a wide variety of auto racing memorabilia and collectibles for their examination and purchase. The show will feature die cast cars, racing photos, plastic models, speedway programs and yearbooks, newspapers, magazines, trading cards and much more.
In addition to the memorabilia and collectibles part of the show, the event has become a meeting place for numerous former area racing drivers and champions to gather and talk about the “good old days of racing” with fellow former competitors and long time fans with the “old timers” even signing an autograph or two. Weather permitting, an array of race cars, both current and vintage, will be on display.
The show will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with admission being $5.00 for adults and children, 12 and under, admitted free.
The Will County Fairgrounds is located ¼ mile west of Illinois Route 50 on Peotone – Wilmington Road or one mile east of Interstate 57 (Exit 327) to Peotone – Wilmington Road. For more information, call (219) 838-0737 or (219) 923-1475.
