EDGAR, Wis. -- "How To Sell Tickets To Hometown Fans," is the theme around which the sequence of sessions for the 36th Annual RPM Promoters Workshops is built. Racing Promotion Monthly, the idea newsletter for auto racing promoters, today released the 36-session schedule for the promoters' gatherings scheduled for Reno, NV and Florida Speedweek. The three-day meetings are dominated by two sequences, the 10-session sequence "Ending Over-dependence," which will address the industry's over reliance on traveling race fans at the expense of local entertainment seekers, and the 18-session "Short Track Short Course," emphasizing the basics of promotion and track operation.

At Reno, Roger Slack will set the stage for the discussion in his opening address entitled "Drawing Local Fans," which will draw on his experience as a third generation promoter and at Lowe's Motor Speedway, where he served as vice-president of events. H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler will offer keynote remarks at the Speedweek Workshop.

In the "Ending Over-Dependence sequence," marquee sessions include: "No More Regular Shows," discussing how one track refocused itself on its weekly racing; "You Can't Do It Alone," discussing how promoters can change their traditional view of staffing and digital communication skills; "Building Local Buzz," a primer for promoters who want to create greater excitement about their races; and the remarks of 32nd Auto Racing Promoter of the Year Lynn Phillips, who will talk with promoters about what he and Alfred Gurley have learned emphasizing weekly racing at Talladega Short Track for 30 years.

The "Short Track Short Course" will discuss: entrant relations, dirt track prep, rules and rulebooks, race night money, crate engines, food and beverage, media relations, digital e-mail, viral marketing, websites, media case histories, guerilla marketing tricks, media hooks, old-fashioned promotion, group ticket sales and the always popular new promoters' forum.

An added bonus for those who attend will be the more than 50 companies exhibiting products and services in the trade show that accompanies the Workshops.

The Thirty-Sixth Annual RPM Promoters Workshops Series, where promoters meet friends they can talk with and gather ideas they can use, begins December 4 in Reno, NV, and concludes during Speedweek, February 9-11, 2009, in Lake Mary, FL.

The complete agenda will reach promoters soon in the September issue or Racing Promotion Monthly. It can also be downloaded online, along with registration materials, at www.rpmpromotersworkshops.com. The meetings are the 96th and 97th produced by Racing Promotion Monthly since 1974. More than 1400 track operators, their employees, and industry leaders attended last year’s Workshops. Racing Promotion Monthly, the idea newsletter for auto racing promoters (www.racingpromotionmonthly.net), and the Workshops are produced with the year-round support of K&K Insurance Group, Inc., Hoosier Racing Tire. More information is available from RPM at 715-536-1067, or on the World Wide Web at www.rpmpromotersworkshops.com.
