BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 10, 2003) - WhoWon.com, the leader in grassroots racing news coverage since 1998, has long been known for its online Racers Classifieds. As of April 1, the leading web property of RaceFan Interactive, a division of RaceFan, Inc., launched a partnership with Flag2Flag.com, which will now be the exclusive headquarters for the popular Racers Classifieds.
Widely regarded as the world leader in racing news and information syndication, RaceFan Interactive has established media contacts with thousands of race tracks, touring series and race teams in order to provide the most comprehensive motorsports portal on the World Wide Web.
Founded in 1997, Flag2Flag.com has enjoyed a strong presence in the Northeast United States. As a marketing partner with Gater Racing News as well as the National Parts Peddler magazine and trade show, Flag2Flag.com has established itself as a leader in the classifieds marketplace for racers and race fans.
Beginning May 1, users will be able to select premium features to showcase their products and services, including photo galleries, front page feature ads and photos, bold type-face ads, as well as ads which run as advertising banners on the WhoWon.com website.
Users that have posted ads in the Racers Classifieds are invited to utilize the new Racers Classifieds powered by Flag2Flag.com for a period of 30 days at no cost. Approximately 1,000 of the over 2,500 ads listed in WhoWon.com’s Racers Classifieds have already been moved to the Flag2Flag.com website.
“More than 85% of WhoWon.com users are directly involved with a race team, either as an owner, driver or crew member,” said RaceFan Interactive vice-president and content editor Jeff Nun. “This partnership with Flag2Flag.com is a natural step in our development so that we may better serve the needs of our users.”
“Most of the classified ad from RaceFan.com were imported into Flag2Flag.com’s database,” said Brian Pokorny, owner and founder of Flag2Flag.com. “Due to vast differences in the database formats, some ads were not able to convert to the new format, but users can re-submit their ad.”
When placing an ad, users are encouraged to add a picture to their classified advertisement. Nearly 80% of all email correspondence between sellers and prospective buyers contain requests for photos. The bottom line: adding a photo to your ad will help sell your product.
Located in Birmingham, Ala., RaceFan, Inc. is a motorsports marketing services company delivering marketing programs and specialized promotions at over 400 short tracks, drag strips and road courses across the United States. RaceFan, Inc., has three operating divisions: RaceFan Marketing, RaceFan Interactive and Motorsports Management, all of which serve to improve the racing industry for promoters, drivers and fans.
Flag 2 Flag Media Group, located in Cooperstown, N.Y., has operated Flag2Flag.com since 1997. Starting as a web hosting service and local racing news site for the Northeast United States, Flag2Flag.com has transformed into one of the biggest racing classified sites on the ‘net.
“I think we tried everything, and finally in 2000 we found our niche on the World Wide Web,” said Pokorny. “With the partnership with RaceFan.com we can take the site to the next level and become the premier classified site on the 'net for racers around the world. We will continue to upgrade and add features to the site to make it easier for racers to buy and sell their racing goods.”
