The Austin Hatcher Foundation & Drivers from The American Le Mans Series Bring Joy and Smiles to John Hopkins Children’s Center

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Thursday, August 30th at 11am the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer and professional drivers from the American Le Mans Series will spend one on one time with more than 60 children dealing with the everyday realities of pediatric cancer and other chronic diseases at the John Hopkins Children’s Center.

Professional racecar drivers from SRT Motorsports will spend time with children and their families building and racing pinewood derby cars as part of the “Fueling Potential: Racing to Win” program.

Children and their families will also be provided tickets to join the Foundation and the American Le Mans Series on the streets of Baltimore during races Saturday September 1st.

“We are excited to visit John Hopkins Children’s Center again this year. ” Dave Marchioni, Motorsports Director at the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. “It is always a joy to watch the children of all ages racing derby cars with professional drivers. Bringing the children and families to the races is a great form of Diversionary Therapy.”

Diversionary Therapy provides families faced with pediatric cancer organized VIP experiences at special events. These activities provide a unique experience for families faced with pediatric cancer to enjoy a special event providing physical, emotional and spiritual well-being at no charge.
