Velocity Wings Congratulates Mike, Natalie and Kaley

Digg this story  Post to delicious

by Bill Wright, Velocity Wings

What’s new? It was another big week for Velocity Wings on the racetrack! Mike Reinke captured the Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial, Natalie Sather was crowned the first female champion in ASCS history, and Kaley Gharst scored two more wins as he closes in on the 2007 Sprint Invaders Association championship. In the process, Velocity Wings went over the 50 win mark for the year!

Reinke, of Howards Grove, Wisconsin, scored his second consecutive victory in the Richert Memorial with the Interstate Racing Association. The race is held each September at the Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin. After battling with Ricky Logan for much of the race, he was reeling in leader, Scott Winters, when the Minnesota native blew a tire. That handed the lead to Reinke and he never looked back, topping the talented field on hand. Velocity Wings was a big part of the event, as Velocity nose wings were awarded to heat winners (Donny Goeden, Dave Uttech, Scott Biertzer, Joe Symoens), and a top wing to the feature winner!

Sather, of Fargo, North Dakota, is the 2007 ASCS-Midwest 360 series champion! She is the first female to achieve an ASCS title. After leading eleven laps and then losing a tire, she stormed back into the top ten in the series final race at the U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Missouri last Friday night. Congratulations Natalie!

Kaley Gharst dominated features with the Sprint Invaders at Bloomfield Speedway in Bloomfield, Iowa on Saturday, and the Quad City Speedway near East Moline, Illinois on Sunday. The wins allowed Gharst to build his points lead in the series, with two shows left (Friday at Burlington and September 22 at Donnellson). Good luck Kaley! Kaley also raced with the World of Outlaws on Wednesday night in Spencer, Iowa and made the show after a fine performance in the B main.
