by Jill Canuso, S&W Race Cars
SPRING CITY, Pa. -- S&W Race Cars is proud to announce that Carlo ‘Ollie’ Volpe has joined their Sales Team. Ollie’s interest in the internal combustion engine started in the late 1950’s. He was tearing apart and trying to rebuild carburetors and lawnmower engines long before his 15th birthday. In 1964, he crossed paths with someone who changed his commitment to engines and racing for the rest of his life. That someone was the late Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins. The knowledge and respect that he acquired in his formative years, by building an association with this extremely talented and unique personality, has given Volpe that burning desire to always strive to be the best.
Through the late sixties and early seventies Ollie’s cars set 4 NHRA National Records in Super Stock and Street Eliminator.
“Frankly, Ollie has the ‘right stuff.’ His racing background combined with his vibrant personality and depth of professional motorsports experience fits the S&W team profile,” said S&W’s Sales manager, Tom Hoosigian. “Both our sales team and our customers will benefit from having a person of Ollie’s caliber on board.”
Ollie has worked for some of the nation's top drag race engine builders, including: Reher Morrison, Sonny Leonard, and John Lingenfelter. His technical articles and photos have appeared in Hot Rod, Super Stock Magazine, Drag Racing Magazine, Drag Racing Monthly, and Bracket Racing Magazine. In addition, Moroso Performance Products, Canfield Cylinder Heads, Jesel, and The Mr. Gasket Performance Group appear on his impressive resume! Volpe’s experience includes everything from Sales & Marketing to New Product Development, which is his forte.’
