ANDERSON, Ind. -- Warsaw's Denny England sailed to victory in the wreck marred H.O.S.S. Outlaw Winged Sprint feature Saturday evening at the Anderson Speedway while New Castle's Darwin Blankenship captured his first Terry's RV Street Stock headliner of the season. Middletown's Ronnie Phipps nailed down the exciting Figure 8 Main with Anderson's Kevin Rhodus coming home the Chappy's Rent To Own FWD victor.

With the top four qualifiers being inverted, an exciting 21 car field took the green flag in the H.O.S.S. feature. World record holder Denny England flew to the lead. Two early yellows flew for minor spins but the super fast winged sprints put on an amazing battle while weaving in and out of traffic! The 30 lap event saw the red flag on lap 24 when 6 cars piled into turn #1. All drivers were ok, but several cars came away badly mangled including the mounts of fast qualifier Doug Berryman, Kevin Newton, Scott Seaton, and Mike Blake. Following a lengthy cleanup, it was a dash to the finish with England taking the win with Hank Lower glued to his bumper! Finishing 3-5 were Ted Hines, Jimmy McCune and Jeremy Dickerson. Dave Hull took the 1st heat win over Chris Jagger and Ron Koehler. Seaton led the distance in heat #2 defeating Lower and Derek Williams. Rick Baker captured the 3rd heat checker besting John Witter and Hines. Six cars qualified in the 10 second bracket with Berryman fastest at 10.743 seconds.

Ronnie Phipps took Jerry Rigney's mount to the point at the start of the street stock feature and led the first 5 laps. Darwin Blankenship made the move to the outside and grabbed the lead away. Blankenship quickly built a straightaway lead. The half inverted field saw current point leader Rich Boyer start 8th. Boyer started working toward the front and by lap 13 had moved into 2nd, but distant. Boyer gradually started reeling in Blankenship and caught him at the white flag. Boyer made a valiant effort in traffic, but the 62 year old veteran of 42 years was not to be denied on this night with Blankenship taking the exciting win! Trailing were Boyer, Terry Burton, Kevin Montgomery and Josh Burton. Heat #1 saw the yellow on lap 7 when Josh Burton got loose and ended up tagging his father, Terry sidelining both. Darwin Blankenship took the victory over Montgomery and Jason Pitts. J.D. Blankenship led the first half of heat #2 before Donnie Butler made contact with the leader. Missy Winegar took over the point and went on to victory over Kevin Brooks and Gary Moore. Fast qualifier was Terry Burton at 14.494 seconds.

Ronnie Phipps convinced all comers in the figure 8 leading the field the distance. Joe Hart, Jr stayed within striking distance and forced Phipps to make some decisions at the crossover. This year's National Crown Champion avoided the near misses at the intersection to score his 2nd victory of the year. Chasers were Hart, Curtis Chapman, Rod Phipps and Mike Perry. Rod Phipps captured the 1st heat checkers over Chapman and Perry. Rookie Mickey Gray, in only his 2nd race, notched his first win in heat #2 defeating Mike Phipps and Jeff Swinford. Ronnie Rose was fast qualifier at 20.407 seconds.

The always exciting FWD feature saw four lead changes in 15 laps! Elliott McKinney grabbed the point at the get-go, a position that he held until being headed on lap 5 by Darryl Roger. Roger's horse threw a shoe on lap 8 vaulting McKinney back up front. Kevin Rhodus, who started 8th, had taken to the outside groove and grabbed the lead with three to go! Rhodus went on to the victory over McKinney, George Baker, Jr, Tony Bargo and Dustin Tomlinson.
