HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- Not only did Mat McCall accomplish many a drivers dream of capturing the UARA Championship, he has done it twice. The UARA will be featuring the Champion, Rookie of the Year and the Top Ten drivers in the coming weeks press releases.

Featured driver this week is 2009 Champion Matt McCall

McCall started out the 2009 season in winning form. He took the checkered flag at the season opener at Bristol Motor Speedway. McCall won that event in his true championship style. He lead 97 of the 106 laps only relinquishing the lead for 9 laps to 2008 UARA Champion Jake Crum.

He continued on to have four total wins in 2009, one second, three third, one fourth, one fifth, two sixth, two tenth and two 21st place finishes to complete his season. It was an up and down season for McCall. He never gave up and would continue his challenge for the lead and accomplish his goal.

Not only did McCall win at Bristol his other victories came at Orange County Speedway, Lonesome Pine Raceway and Tri County Speedway. McCall also claimed four Sunoco Pole positions in 2009. These were achieved at Bristol Motor Speedway, Rockingham Speedway, Orange County Speedway and Lonesome Pine Raceway.

McCall took the point lead at the season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway in March. He would maintain that lead until race number four at Tri County where young Paddy Rodenbeck would take over with a ten point lead. Race number five would find McCall’s leading competitor for the title, Jamey Caudill taking the point. Caudill would lead McCall by 22 points. After the Orange County win McCall took the point lead back over never to give it up again. This was not an easy Championship victory for McCall. Jamey Caudill was constantly breathing down his neck. In the end McCall would come home victor with a 46-point advantage.

McCall not only had the UARA regulars to contend with but also the challenge of 103 different drivers throughout the season.

McCall will make an excellent Champion once again for the UARA series.

CONGRATULATIONS MATT McCALL !!!
