MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- #07 Kyle Fletcher bested #26 Ronnie Campbell, #09 Daniel Bolden and a stellar field of twenty four trucks to take the victory in the United States Super Truck Series (USST) National Series event on Saturday November 7th at the ¾ mile Memphis Motorsports Park, in Memphis Tennessee.

The event was held in conjunction with the ASA Late Model Series King’s Ransom 300 which will air nationally on FOX Sports Network.

Fletcher’s win was anything but easy as fourteen trucks finished nose to tail on the lead lap. A virtual “who’s-who” of the nation’s best truck racers filled the field with talent.

Within the magnitude of the marquee event was the fact that the 2009 USST Series Championship was on the line. #55 Jess Williams and #45 Trista Stevenson where poised to settle the title on the track while racing for the win. Both talented young drivers went out and raced hard rather than simply running back in the pack. The drama of the championship would take a dramatic twist as both trucks experienced mechanical challenges.

While the championship was being settled several battles took place in the pack. Drivers from eight states including Colorado provided the crowd with quality racing all around the race track.

Right in the heat of the action was internet TV personality #16 Scott Traylor. Traylor was enjoying his day off racing hard to hold on to his much sought after tenth place spot. The racers among that group included thirteen year old Illinois driver #85 Camden Murphy. Murphy may be the “youngest driver” ever to take the green at Memphis Motorsports Park. #24 Ray Clay and fellow Racin Boys TV personality #11 Randy Price who were all hot on Traylor’s heels. Traylor would hold his ground and take the tenth position.


The old adage; “To finish first…first you must finish” came into play for the USST Series title. Both William’s and Stevenson’s trucks spent time in the garage and returned to competition in hopes of turning more laps than their rival. The title would come down to survival of the fittest. In the end Williams would best Stevenson for the title in one of the closest finishes in USST Series history.

With the championship honors decided it was time to focus all attention at the front of the pack and the exciting battle among the top five trucks in contention.

Recent Winners in USST races were especially prone to mechanical misfortune. #05 Tommy Climer, who captured the win at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, #73 Larry Fitzsimmons who just won Oktoberfest, and #7 Eric Caudell, the Halloween Spooker Nationals winner, all encountered mechanical failures.

While Fletcher secured the point in the contest other drivers showed their muscle towards the front. #97 Ronnie Hartford, #69 JJ Sonnervelt and #15 Brett Widdis bolted towards the front in hopes of challenging Fletcher, Campbell and Bolden.

Trying the catch the front draft of the leaders were #3 Blake Carter, #11 Stacey Cain, #74 Chris Muhler, #33 Paul Schaffer and #83 Bill Collins. The tight pack of trucks had a great battle going when the yellow came out for a spin on the front stretch.

The hard charging pack was forced to take evasive action to avoid a slow car on the apron. The ensuing situation kicked off a chain reaction accident that collected the trucks of Cain and Carter. The incident was devastating to both as they were poised to make a run at the leaders.

At the final restart Campbell, who earlier turned the fastest lap of the day with a time of 24.342 (110.919 MPH) and Bolden tried to hook up and draft on the outside of Fletcher. The crate motor powered machine of Fletcher was simply too good on this day as he raced to victory besting Campbell, Bolden, Hartford and Sonnevelt rounding out the top five.

While his elated crew looked on Fletcher gave the fans an entertaining burn out display to bring down the curtain on the 2009 United States Super Truck Series.
