BANKS, Ore. -- Theo MCarty of Hillsboro became the most recent winner in the 2012 campaign with the Northwest Wingless Tour. McCarty drove his Schram Brothers Excavating #6 mount to victory lane on Saturday June 9th at the Sunset Speedway Park during Fan Appreciation Night. So far in the current season the Northwest Wingless Tour has had four different winners in as many races. A full field of twenty-three cars made the trip to the Banks bullring which attracted the likes of several regulars with the Oregon Double Shot Series to be on hand.

Theo McCarty grabbed the initial race lead and despite having a crate engine underneath the hood he managed to take care of the field in the evening’s feature. Adding to his wingless career which includes the 2010 NWWT series championship McCarty became the sixth different feature winner at SSP in series history.

Bill Winsley of Molalla in the Wilson Napa Auto Parts #10 would finish in the runner-up position and Sterling Kane of Salem driving his ESK Racing #89 would finish in third. The balance of the top five consisted of the BDR Racing #19 of Ryan Bothwell from Canby in fourth and Jacob Gillman in the #11X entry.

The BDR Racing #11 of Ariel Biggs from Hoquiam, Washington was fast time of the night at 15.332 seconds, heat races were won by Colby Weedman of Moro in the Weedman Ranches #38 and the BDR Racing #64 of Sammy Wright from Vancouver, Washington, and the trophy dash was won by Chris Peterson the pilot from Hillsboro in the Competition Motorsports #14.

A consolation feature was run with the top five cars making it into the main event. Ricky Ashley of Jasper in the BDR Racing #36 won the event with Rob Lindsey of Wilsonville in his Lindsey Motorsports #9. Andrew Reitman in the #30, Colby Weedman, and the Taylor Street Racing #12R machine of Gresham driver Darren Rothe completed the top five.

The Northwest Wingless Tour will travel north to the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington for their second race of the season at the 3/8 mile oval on Saturday June 16th. The series will return to the Sunset Speedway Park for two events starting with June 30th and July 14th.

The Northwest Wingless Tour has been providing fans of Non-Wing Sprint Cars entertainment to tracks through the Pacific Northwest since 2009.
