Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Travis Young Leads USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series to the Dirt of US 24 Speedway

LEBANON, Ind. -- For the first time in more than a decade the Kenyon Cars of the USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series will take to the dirt, at US 24 Speedway on Saturday August 11. Point Leader Travis Young takes a slim 43 point lead onto the Logansport, IN clay bull ring. The USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series dirt swing at on the clay bullring US 24 can mix up the season point standings. Several drivers are bringing dirt experience to the table and are looking for good results. Cordy Horn, Grant Simpson, Spencer Bayston and Jessica Bean all have been running dirt races in several different types of cars and are looking to set the pace at US 24. Now I am focused on the final 4 races and see if we can finish the season strong. It will be interesting, definitely with the three dirt races coming up. Its been almost 8 years since I ran on dirt, so the goal is to be consistent and hopefully still have the point lead going into Anderson, said Young, sharing his thoughts on the dirt races. The Saturday event will be the first race on dirt for Dameron Taylor whos currently sitting 2nd in points. Horn is third and Bean fourth and they are both looking to cut into the difference on the dirt. US 24 Speedway is located at 6830 W US 24 in Logansport, IN. The pit gates open at 3 and racing starts at 7:15.
