Friday, July 20, 2012 Three to Go in Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge; ARCA Teams Practice Today, Race Saturday at Chicagoland

JOLIET, Ill. -- Outside of the overall series championship, the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award stands as a season-within-the-season prize for ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards drivers and teams. This week, the pursuit of the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award continues through its second half in the Ansell ActivArmr® 150 at Chicagoland Speedway. The Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award is given to the owner of the ARCA Racing Series team scoring the most race points - not counting qualifying or lap bonuses - in the seven races at Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Pocono Raceway (two), Michigan International Speedway, Chicagoland, and Kansas Speedway. Saturday's Ansell ActivArmr® 150 at Chicagoland will be the fifth event in the competition. The award will officially be presented in December at the ARCA Racing Series Championship Awards Banquet in Indianapolis. Based in Lakeville, Ind., Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. produces the Official Tire of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and is part of one of the longest-standing sponsor relationships in ARCA's 59-year history. Hoosier has participated as a supplier for ARCA-sanctioned events since the 1960s and has been the exclusive tire provider for the ARCA Racing Series since 1995. Chicagoland Speedway's 1.5-mile oval will host ARCA for the 12th time since 2001 in the Ansell ActivArmr® 150. Practice will open tonight, from 7-9 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, with the 100-lap, 150-mile race set to air live on SPEED at 5 p.m. All listed times are Eastern, one hour ahead of Chicagoland Speedway and Central Daylight Time. The race will be the 12th of 20 in 2012. 2012 is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards' 60th Anniversary Season, featuring 20 races at 18 tracks. The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 26 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.375 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama's Mobile International Speedway and Minnesota's Elko Speedway for the first time. Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in three professional touring series and local weekly events.
