PEORIA, Ariz. -- Summer just keeps on heating up and will do so with style with this weekend’s Second Annual Summer Sizzle at the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval in Peoria, AZ.

Headlining the night’s action will be the wingless Sprint Cars of the ASCS Canyon Region, with X-Mods, Southwest Mod Lites and ASCS2 Micro Sprint Cars rounding out the card.

Currently ranked second in ASCS Canyon Region points just 51 points behind reigning champion Charles Davis, Jr., R.J. Johnson is the defending Summer Sizzle winner at Canyon Speedway Park after beating Davis, Jr., Josh Pelkey, Jeremy Sherman and Mike Spencer to the line last June.

With ‘Chargin’ Charles Davis, Jr., holding the series points lead over Johnson entering the weekend, Dalten Gabbard, Bruce St. James and Rick Ziehl round out the current top five with the balance of the top ten including Chris Bonneau, Brian Hosford, Justin Quinn, Bob Ream, Jr., and Andrew Reinbold.

After winning the initial pair of X-Mod features, Jake Johnson carries an 11-point advantage over Jason George into the weekend with John Foster, Chris Caldwell and Chris Weimer rounding out the top five in points.

The Southwest Mod Lites have offered up five different winners in five previous races at CSP this season including Tony Martin, Brad Weiss, Mike Ryan, A.J. Martin and Vince Perez.

Josh Castro topped the initial two ASCS2 Micro Sprint features of the year at CSP before Garrett Guilkey and Dustin Cormany claimed wins over Memorial Day Weekend.

Tickets to Saturday’s Second Annual Summer Sizzle are just $15 for adults, with a $2 discount for Military, Seniors and Students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.
