Results from Mid-Nebraska Speedway

DONIPHAN, Nebr. -- Rain in the morning, sunshine, windy conditions were all in the formula for an action packed night of racing and points chasing at Mid-Nebr Speedway Saturday June 23. Dave Cook took the first green flag in heat number one of the Grand National Late Model division. Cook led the entire race for the win. Kevin Safranek was second, Bob Milander third and Jarred Hackler fourth. Josh Leonard took the lead from Larry Iiams on lap three of the second heat and continued for a win. Iiams finished second with Tom Kubicka and Brandon Leonard rounding out the top four. Mike Hetrick led lap number one of the final heat before Jake Neighbors took the lead and the win. Robbie Leonard moved up for second with Robert Leonard third and Hetrick fourth.

IMCA Modified driver Wade Cross lined up in sixth place for the first heat but led every lap for the win. Brian Levander controlled second as Justin Brandt was third and Bob Lawson fourth. Gary Pemberton led the first two laps of the second heat before Tyler Iverson took control. Iverson continued for the win as Jimmy Pearce moved up to finish second followed by Charles Stryker and Jared Hoefelman.

IMCA Hobby Stock drivers battled in the first heat as Tyler Smith led the first three laps. Tyler Andreasen took control at that point and continued until the white flag lap as Kyle Bond took the front and the win. Andreasen was second as Jake Pemberton moved up for third and Jamie Porterfield fourth. Russ Specht led the first two laps of the second heat. Troy Paxton took the lead on lap three and continued to lead for the win. Jim Buss moved up to finish second with Caleb Hetrick third and Specht dropped to fourth.

Jesse Lewis led the entire distance for the win in the first of two Awards Plus Happy Hornet heat races. Alex Rodewald was second with Kathie Renschler third and fourth went to Joe Welch. Joey Platt controlled the second heat for the win. Jordan Lawhorne was second Erik Nelson third and Steven Hanna fourth.

Erik Nelson was named the “Driver of the Week” during the intermission. Nelsen is the current point lead at Mid-Nebr Speedway. Erik has five wins out of seven starts at this time into the racing season. Congratulations Erik Nelson.

Joey Platt grabbed the lead in the Awards Plus Happy Hornet feature after starting inside the second row. Platt continued to lead for the win. Jordan Lawhorned moved up to finish second followed by our “Driver of the Week” Erik Nelson and fourth went to Jesse Lewis.

IMCA Hobby Stock drivers battled for positions in their A-feature. Russ Specht led the first five laps of the feature before Jake Pemberton took the lead. One lap later found Jim Buss in the lead. Kyle Bond made his way up to finish second behind Jim Buss. Third place went to Jake Pemberton and fourth was Russ Specht.

The IMCA Modified was a fast paced event. Wade Cross took the lead coming out of corner two on lap one after starting in eighth position. Cross continued for his fourth feature win in a row at Mid-Nebr Speedway. Jared Hoefelman moved up to finish second with Charles Stryker third and Matthew Kiner was fourth.

Grand National Late Model driver Mike Hetrick grabbed the lead as their A-feature began. Two laps later Kevin Safranek was in control of the race. Josh Leonard had other ideas as he made his way to the lead on lap number eight. Josh continued his lead for the win as Kevin Safranek held on for second with Robert Leonard taking third and Bob Milader fourth. A crash early into the race sent Tom Kubicka and Bryce Taylor to the pits for the night.
