EDMONTON, Alta. -- Scott Steckly turned the fastest lap in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 qualifying at the Edmonton City Centre Airport on Saturday to win the pole for the Edmonton 100.

The two-time and defending series champion from Milverton, Ont., established a track record of 95.545 seconds (85.003 mph) as the series competes on the 2.256-mile, 13-turn Edmonton course for the first time this weekend. It marks the second pole of the season and eighth career series pole for the driver of the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge.

Andrew Ranger, who from 2007 to 2009 won three consecutive poles on the old 1.96-mile layout at Edmonton, was second quickest in qualifying – with a lap of 96.040 seconds (84.565 mph). He was followed by J.R. Fitzpatrick, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and Robin Buck.

The Edmonton 100 is scheduled to get the green flag at 10:30 a.m. MT on Sunday. It is the second of a three-race western swing for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, which returned to Edmonton after a one-year hiatus. The race is the sixth on a 12-race schedule and the third of five road courses for the series.
