Wiley X Roars into 2010 Season with ‘A-List’ of Sponsored Racing Rock Stars

Wiley X

Over the years, Wiley X has become the eyewear of choice for some of the biggest names on the track, based largely on the company’s aggressive styling, superior visual performance and battlefield proven High-Velocity Protection (HVP) technology. In 2010, Wiley X is showing no signs of slowing down — extending key sponsorship agreements with several of NASCAR’s most high-profile drivers.

Hot off the press wire, Wiley X is excited to announce it will be continuing its partnership with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Joey Logano (#20) and Denny Hamlin (#11) of Joe Gibbs Racing. From Kevin Harvick, Inc., Wiley X will also be continuing its existing relationship with NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kevin Harvick (#29), and Camping World Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday for 2010.

In addition, as the ongoing official sunglass for Roush Fenway Racing, Wiley X is also ecstatic about the contractual extensions of Sprint Cup drivers Greg Biffle (#16), Carl Edwards (#99), Matt Kenseth (#17) and David Ragan (#6), along with the addition of relative newcomer Colin Braun (#16) from the team’s Nationwide Series Program. No doubt, this will be a tough team to beat.

Other Wiley X team heavyweights include legendary Mark Martin (#5) from Hendricks Motorsports, (last year’s runner-up to the Sprint Cup Championship) along with several top drivers who participate in all 3 Series — NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck — Aric Almirola (#09), Travis Kvapil (#37), Michael McDowell (#55), Joe Nemechek (#87), Scott Wimmer, and the newest addition to the championship team, Regan Smith (#78).

With a lineup of that pedigree, it’s hardly surprising that the company’s sponsored drivers are already consistently posting strong finishes in the early part of the racing season — Harvick just won the recent pre-season Budweiser Shootout for the second consecutive year, with Hamlin and Logano ranking in the top ten. At the Gatorade Duel #1, Wiley X drivers again came in strong, with Harvick placing 2nd, Biffle taking 11th, and Hamlin 12th. At the Gatorade Duel #2, Wiley X crossed the finish line in 7th place with Joey Logano, and in 11th with
Matt Kenseth.

Enter the big day at Daytona: At the 500, Wiley X once again had drivers firmly in the top ten seats — with Biffle taking third place, Harvick in 7th and Kenseth finishing 8th. All three Wiley X drivers are also in the top 10 vying in hot competition for 2010 Sprint Cup honors.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be such a trusted part of racing culture and play a role in making history with these amazing drivers and their teams,” says Myles Freeman Jr., President of Sales for Wiley X. “The enhancement of our 2010 sponsorships demonstrates both our ongoing commitment to the sport, and our pride in offering the ultimate in protection and high performance good looks for these high profile competitors. The entire team at Wiley X looks forward to another amazing year with them.”
