Tuesday, June 5, 2012 Ranger Wins NASCAR Canada Road Race at Circuit ICAR
 by Lee Elder, Goodyear Racing
MIRABEL, Que. -- Andrew Ranger grabbed the lead after seven laps and raced on to win the Lucas Oil Grand Prix for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Circuit ICAR.
Ranger, a former series champion and one of the best road racers the Series has known, averaged 54.359 mph around the 2.113-mile venue.
The Canadian Tire Series competes on Goodyear tires, as do the K&N Pro Series East and West. In fact, all three series use the same line of Goodyear Eagles, which allows the teams to compete on an even playing field because all the competitors are familiar with the tires supplied by the Akron, Ohio-based manufacturer.
The bias-ply tires Goodyear supplied for the race performed well, as the drivers pushed the cars through the corners of the demanding circuit.
Ranger passed D.J. Kennington to take the lead. Though he was never headed, Ranger still finished just a half-second ahead of J.R. Fitzpatrick after a green-white-checkers finish. Scott Steckly was third, followed by Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and Kennington. There were 29 cars in the starting field.
