PARK CITY, Kan. -- For the first time since the 2008 race season it appears there will be a new “King of the Hill Late Model Shootout” feature winner as the ninth annual rendition of this event takes place this coming Friday and Saturday night as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products late model division kicks back into racing action for the second weekend in a row. This time they will join forces, just as they have all previous events, with the Lucas Oil Midwest Latemodel Racing Association (MLRA).

Former five-time tour champion Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colorado has won this event the previous three years but has not raced thus far this 2012 race season. This leaves the door wide open for a new “King of the Hill” champion.

Kyle Berck of Marquette, Nebraska won the season opener at the track back in May and has two tour victories on the season while running part time with the tour. Current MLRA point leader John Anderson won the 2006 and 2008 version of this event while Terry Phillips won back in 2007.

A tight point’s battle between season long leader Gary Gorby and rookie Tommie Weder, Jr. continues with Weder unofficially sitting atop the point standings after two, top three finishes’s this past weekend in Nebraska and Kansas.

Drivers expected to compete include Matt Johnson, Brad Wagoner, Andrew Kosiski, Dan Battaglia, Dean Moore, Travis Dickies, Delbert Smith, Bill Leighton, Mark Dotson, Kevin Sather, Chad Simpson, Chris Simpson and more.

Gates open on Friday night at 4:30 pm with racing action starting at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $12 for adults, $4 ages 6-12 and ages 5 and under are free! Pit passes are $30 for Non NASCAR members / $20 for NASCAR licensed members.

On championship Saturday night gates open at 4:00 pm with racing slated for a 7:00 pm start time. Adult tickets will be $15; $4 ages 6-12 and ages 5 and under are free! Pit passes are $30 for Non NASCAR members / $20 for NASCAR licensed members.
