Friday, May 11, 2012 Alliance Autosport Takes Two Wins at SCCA Summit Point Super Tour
Alliance Autosport
Alliance Autosport with driver Scott Rettich recently competed in the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour National at Summit Point Motorsports Park. The team came together to have a perfect weekend by qualifying on the pole, winning the race, and setting a new track record in both Formula Enterprises and Spec Racer Ford.
The weekend started out strong as Scott set the fastest time in the first qualifying session in Spec Racer Ford. Scott then jumped straight out of his Spec Racer Ford and straight into his Formula Enterprises, where he also set the fastest qualifying time. During the afternoon for the second qualifying sessions, Scott improved his time in Spec Racer Ford and secured the pole in Formula Enterprises as well. In the Spec Racer Ford race, Scott took full advantage of his starting position, quickly opening up a margin to the rest of the field. On the fifth lap of the race Scott ran a 1:23.8, beating the 10 year old track record by four tenths of a second. When the checkers fell Scott had a 14 second margin over second place.
With the Spec Racer Ford and Formula Enterprises races back to back, Scott literally jumped out of his Spec Racer Ford and into his Formula Enterprises. Scott again started from the pole and began pulling away from second place. On the third lap of the race a full course caution came out for an incident between two Formula Atlantic machines. After a few laps behind the pace car the race went green and Scott wasted no time pulling away from his other Formula Enterprises competitors. By the end of the race Scott built up a sizeable margin over the rest of the field and broke the old track record by a second.
“It was an incredible weekend for us,” stated Scott Rettich. “Spec Racer Ford and Formula Enterprises are both very competitive and taking the victory in one is a great accomplishment, but winning both in the same weekend and setting new track records in both is just incredible. We have never competed at Summit Point Motorsports Park before, but I was able to learn the track quickly and we had a very good set up on both cars. I have to thank the Alliance Autosport team for giving me two very fast and reliable cars. I would also like to thank PDI Communication Systems, Springboro Car Wash, Goodyear Race Tires, Hoosier Racing Tire, Red Line Oil, and my parents for their continued support of our racing.”
