Holden Led the INEX Legends Back in Action at the Indianapolis Speedrome

INDIANAPOLIS -- Nearly a full month has passed since the high-powered lightweight INEX legend machines hit the famous fifth-mile at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome. Teams were eager to get back to business after some triple digit temperatures the last few Friday's. The pack atop the point standings were especially ready for the racing carnival to resume. These drivers have shuffled around positions seemingly every week at the sizzling short track. Their adrenaline was flowing fast even before a lap was turned as they have stared at the championship possibilities for weeks. To become a part of this division, you can contact the official authorized INEX dealer Performance Racing Products at 888-917-4777.

Preliminary contests were first up on the agenda. Veteran Master class racer Eric Black crossed the finish line first in the initial 8-lap event. He was followed in the results by former Speedrome champion Tony Holden and multi-time Midwest area point topper John Robbins. The second heat had recent feature winner Marty Griffin driving to the victory. His rear bumper was eyed by 2011 series runner-up Joe Thurman and first-time visitor from Florida Noah 'Little Gator' Cornman. Teams then made their final setup tweaks to prepare for the evening finale.

The drivers got the green light from the AT&T Advertising Solutions flag stand to begin the feature. Jumping out to the early lead was Tony Holden. He soon saw his son Aaron roll-up on his outside jousting for victory while trying to contain point leader Tyler Payne on his bumper. The trio made slight contact sending Aaron for a spin to bring out the caution. The sibling showdown came once again after the green flag waved, but with the son this time gaining the lead while dad slipped back a bit. The race went red on lap 19 when the right front wheel assembly launched off of the Thurman machine bringing contact with Black. When competition returned, Aaron resumed his march to a second straight victory. Rising star Chris Hacker was second with Payne snagging third.
