Robbins Takes Race, Payne Wins War in INEX Legends

Digg this story  Post to delicious

INDIANAPOLIS -- Friday night August 31st was the 2012 season championship event for the INEX Legend machines. Rolling to victory lane in the preliminary contest was Master class veteran Marc Anderson. The popular sportsman hoisted checkers for the initial time besting Chris Hacker and John Robbins. The final track title feature saw Robbins, who was back in action after a week away dealing with some health concerns, bursting to the lead. Second place Marty Griffin was in an early battle with Payne. Tyler slipped by for runner-up about a quarter into the event. But he could not match the pace of Robbins who roared to his second career victory at the Speedrome. Payne held off some serious pressure from Hacker for second. It was enough for Tyler to earn his first overall Legend track crown. 2012 Classification season titles went to Hacker (Young Lion), Payne (Semi Pro), Robbins (Pro), and Joe Thurman (Master).

Pulliam Closes Gap Friday While Teepe Takes War Saturday

Only 2 nights stood between drivers and the August championship in the Junior Hornets. Fridays preliminary heat had Jacob Brown piloting his red sled to victory over Justin Green and Jordan Hahn. Saturday's heat had Mr Green hoisting the checkered flag ahead of Eddie Snapp III and Layne Pulliam. The weekends opening feature had the entire field under the proverbial blanket over the duration of the 15-laps. This kept drivers on their toes as any misstep could cost them positions in the winning push. Layne was the man keeping his #18 on rails to claim his second career win. Colors Brown and Green were the other primary drivers in the primary listings. Saturday's title-deciding main event was a bit wilder than the previous night. Only 3 points separated Teepe and Pulliam entering this closing round. A dicey couple of early circuits shuffled the standings. But after the final restart, it was Andrew who left nothing to chance by marching to the win and his second straight crown. Lifelong racing rival Hahn was runner-up while Snapp was a career best third place.
