THOMPSON, Conn. -- The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models return to the Thompson International Speedway on Thursday, July 12th. These exceptionally fast and competitive race cars will compete in a 75-lap feature event that is bound to bring with it all of the things that have made this annual event at Thompson such a hit with New England fans.
The PASS Touring Series will arrive at Thompson, the largest and fastest track on which they compete, with a great field of Super Late Model cars their driving stars. Local sensation Derek Ramstrom will be joined by drivers like Travis Benjamin, Johnny Clark, Joey Doiron, D.J. Shaw, Cassius Clark, Ben Rowe and many more.
The PASS Super Late Models have become one of the most popular touring series that visits Thompson every year. Fans come from all over New England to watch this amazing series compete on the high banks of the Thompson Int’l Speedway. In the last three years, this division has produced a different winner each time. The 2009 race was won by Derek Ramstrom with the 2010 event going to Ben Rowe. Last year’s winner was Johnny Clark.
The night will be extra special with the appearance of the 1989 Sprint Cup title holder and soon-to-be member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Rusty Wallace. Wallace, who will be representing the California Paints Storm System, will meet and greet fans and will provide autographs to many of them.
Joining both the PASS Tour and Wallace will be Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series “Super 6” divisions. These cars compete weekly as part of the track’s Thursday Night Thompson Thunder program. On top of that list are the Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, the all-new LKQ/Keystone Lite Modifieds, Xtra/Mart Limited Sportsman and Monster Mini Stocks. It will be a must see event at the historic northeast CT oval.
Grandstand will open early for this event. Fans may come at 1 PM and watch all divisions practice until qualifying begins at 6 PM. Heat races in divisions that require them will determine starting positions in the feature races. The complete day’s schedule of events and more news about this special race program are available on the Thompson web site. www.thompsonspeedway.com
